VHS tapes are the standard format for consumer videotape recorder/players. Not the most convenient, though, unless a VCR and a TV set are right next to your desk. Even then, they are slow to rewind and fast forward, and take up more space on your shelves.

CD-ROMs hold an MPEG-1 digital video file, viewable with the Windows Media Player, Quicktime Player, and all standard MPEG players. Very convenient and most universal.

You need a DVD drive on your computer to play DVD-ROMs. DVD-ROMs contain MPEG-1 digital video files, viewable with the Windows Media Player, Quicktime Player, and all standard MPEG players. This option is most convenient if you have DVD drives on your computers.
Note: The DVD-ROM is not directly interchangeable with a DVD-Video or a CD-ROM. Read the descriptions and if you still have questions, call us.

DVD-Video discs are the same type of discs as you would get with a movie rental and are playable on any standard movie DVD player. Many computers come with software to play DVD-Video discs, but not all.
